Our History
Home Health originated as a department of Memorial Hospital in 1982. A community block grant through the state of Kansas supplemented the original start-up fees incurred to become a Medicare certified agency. Also in 1982, Abilene Area Hospice Inc. was formed. At that time, Hospice was a volunteer organization with 36 original members.
In 1994, Abilene Area Hospice, Inc. joined Memorial Hospital. This change allowed it to become Medicare certified and it became known as Home Health and Hospice of Dickinson County.
At the present time, Home Health and Hospice of Dickinson County serves patients in Dickinson County, as well as parts of Saline, Geary, Morris, Marion, and Clay counties. Programs participated in are Home Health Medicare and Medicaid, Private Insurance, Hospice Medicare and Medicaid, Private Pay, SRS Programs, Area Agency on Aging Programs and grants as available.
The Home Health Agency of Dickinson County is committed to providing quality home health care services to all citizens in this area. This is done without distinction of race, religion, age, sex, or national origin. This care is delivered in a context of appropriate relationship and consultations with physicians, families, and other community resources.
