Medical Preparations- Back to top

Depending on the procedure, you might be asked by your doctor or another member of the medical staff to make preparations before your surgery.  It is important to follow your doctor’s guidelines.  For example if you are asked not to eat or drink, it is important that you do not.  Even drinking water, eating hard candy or chewing gum could cause your procedure to be cancelled.  Talk to your doctor about what medication(s) you should or should not take before the procedure.  If you are taking medication(s) before the procedure, ask your doctor what time you should take them.

Patient Rooms- Back to top

We Patient Roomhave private rooms and shared rooms.  A private room may be requested during your admission.  Requests are honored based on hospital occupancy.

Memorial Hospital is a non-smoking facility.   Patients and Visitors are asked to use the designated outdoor smoking area.

Pediatric Patients- Back to top

All children under the age of 7 require a parent or an adult designated by the parent to be in attendance with the child at all times during the hospital stay.  The presence of parents ensures that the child's needs are identified and relayed to the staff so that appropriate care is given. As most young children are unable to fully express their needs, a family member's presence decreases the emotional stress of the child and helps with the recovery process. Parents and hospital staff work as a team to help the child to recover as quickly as possible and return to their home environment.

Personal Preparations- Back to top
